been awhile since i posted any real picks here...struggling myself with plays right now so why i picked today to post is beyond me. Cup is tricky (of course) so betting less than normal but i do like some today:
Germany DFB Pokal
Greuther Furth v VfB Stuttgart
over 2.5 1.73
Furth ml 3.95 <---ultra small 1/10th the normal bet just to say I did it.
65% of cup games have gone over and Furth are a perfect 10-0 on overs in league play. I like the home side vs struggling and potential lack of visitor motivation to play a factor in this one. I really like Furth to pull the mini-upset but not enough to bet them with serious cash. Stuttgart missing Cacau (muscle sinew tear), Georg Niedermeier (ligament damage), Sami Khedira (foot injury) and Martin Lanig (therapy following cruciate ligament tear). (goal.com) At the same time, manager Babble seems to think this game might be the turning point for Stuttgart's season so maybe they will put full effort in this one. But Furth are good enough to score one so maybe stuttgart wins a 2-1 3-1 type game. Odds are pretty high for a german cup over so maybe the books are more right than I am on this one.
Eintracht Trier v 1. FC Köln
1. FC Köln AH-1 1.85
I think Koln will do the business here as a Regionalliga team doesn't make it to the quarters (ever???). Trier really have tanked since their shocking win against Bielefeld and now have to start worrying about relegation. 4 straight league losses including 2 at home. Other than Leverkusen II they have played top 10 teams but realistically if they can't beat leaders Lotte at home, how can they compete against Bundesliga I teams? And the win against Bielefeld could have been the promotional hopefuls lack of motivation more than anything. And Koln riding a decent run with 2 draws on the road including Munich and a win against Mainz. And Wolfsburg did lose in the Cup to them so safe to say Koln is taking it serious enough. Much like Werder last season, only chance at any Euro competetion next year in the Cup. Maybe push on the handicap but i love Koln.
